Maybe it is the Wavefront chip that is used: http://www.wavefrontsemi.com/products/AL3201pop.html
together with ADC and DAC.

I read about the A-187 but didn't see this lines on the *cough* doepfer, page:

I can't answer your question but I'm particularly interested in that pice of hardware since till now I planned to use the guts of a stomp-box (see below).
That paragraph above smells a lot like as if application examples have been used of that particular unknown dsp vendor.
Ripping that board out of a bought A-187 is no option, it's way too expensive in that context.
