[sdiy] Aaron calming down now & question about UREI 1176

I'm in an extremely frazzled state, meaning today's discussion about youtube vids (and the admittedly poor production quality of the off-the-cuff ones I have recently posted) hit me in not the best mental state.

I've been, on the side, looking over the UREI 1176 schematics (of various sorts). Is the FET-based VCA part worth building and experimenting with on its own? Would it be imbued with special UREI 1176 magical cooties?
