Interesting, cause I'd use the same reason *against* video lectures -- 
because I have to sit through the entire 90 minutes (or whatever length) 
it as I will not know in advance, what will be said when.

And in any case, I have to go with the pace predefined at recording.

With a written document, I can quickly browse over it, until I find 
what is of interest go me right now and then dive into it.

But regarding the general point that it's typically easier to follow a 
"pre-digested" content (which lectures usually are) as opposed to work 
yourself into new stuff, I wholehartedly agree.
