RE: [sdiy] open letter to Aaron Lanterman

An interesting point that ... I am a computer engineer that also dabbles in
pro video ... I recently went to London to video some footage of a modular
meet... the audio is always going to an issue as there is a cacophony going
on , and next time (Leeds, UK May 22) I will definitely run an XLR from a
mixer into my camera ..., but using poor footage and even worse audio for
anything is not the way forward... god forbid using a mobile phone ...

Oh, and the stability in my video is awful as I am getting used to a new
camera brace ... a learning curve indeed ...not sure if it is going to get
binned or not yet ...

:^)

Hi Aaron.

The student projects look cool... I hope that they will write reports that
will be
posted online somewhere. Call me "old school" or "luddite" but YouTube does
not make
it for me as a conduit for information. I'm often at computers that lack
audio, some that
can't keep up with video either. The images are often too fuzzy to get any
sense of
whats going on. I can see those "solderless slabs-o-trouble" on the bench
but not much else.

YouTube is not going to benefit these students when they are presenting
their designs
to the big boss, eh... maybe they should use PowerPoint :^)

(only kidding, I hate power point too. and BBDs.. did I forget solderless
breadboards ?)

H^) harry (who puts the 'old' in 'old school')
