I found a very cool book at the library today which I can't put down:
Analog Days, The Invention and Impact of the Moog Synthesizer
Trevor Pinch and Frank Trocco
Harvard University Press, 2002.
It's a collection of interviews and stories about Moog and others associated
with the Moog synthesizer, with chapters on Buchla, ARP, and a few others,
some musicians, etc. Robert Moog wrote the Foreword. I didn't remember
seeing it mentioned here before.
In fact, the Vancouver Public Library has an extensive collection of books
about synthesizers and electronic music. Someone in their acquisitions
department is pretty switched on!
(OT) I also found a big fat book all about ECM (my all-time favorite record
label) which is chock full of interviews with personal heroes of mine such
as Eberhard Weber (Colours of Chloe!!! I thought I'd died and gone to
heaven), Charles Lloyd and Bill Frisell, inter alia. Something else to look
forward to the next time I visit the library...
