Thanks for the replies.
As the front panel is damaged I need to replace that too, so I can make
as much holes as I like.
I'll go with the subframe. Mount the sliders to the subframe and use
spacers to attach the lot to the front panel.
I'm planning a small test to see if there's a difference between using
spacers on the sliders and subframe or spacers on the subframe only.
