[sdiy] SDIY-OT: Acrimony on the list

Hi,
Thought I'd throw my $0.02 in. I agree with Mr. Pyre here. See, the problem
is that one does not have any visual feedback during and exchange, like body
language or facial expression. People regard emoticons with disdain -
they're only a stop-gap, but sometimes they do the trick. Also the exchange
doesn't have any ambience, likke on a comfy couch or a noisy subway or a
house with 10 screaming kids. In fact, each of us could be in that very
environment at the time of posting and it doesn't come through in the
message. It's just the words. And the words don't always speak for
themselves, at least not exactly as intended - although it should seem
obvious that they would.

True acrimony should be roundly dismissed, but of course without further
acrimony. I think that's what everyone has been saying at least.

Are we past the point of flogging a dead horse yet?

Cheers,
Anthony
