I would like to know that too.
I am at the exact same point, having taken up electronics after a 25 years
hiatus. Until now I have been using perf board for my projects.
BTW. I have a sizeable collection of basic components lefter over from back
then, but I have to scrape off decades of oxidation before use ;-)
