Yes, but the question was whether 12 bit dac would already be at the limit
of the rest of the circuitry.

Delta-sigma is rather the other extreme of the accuracy scale. For CV you
want good enough accuracy (say, < 1 mV error) and a few bits higher
resolution from that. From what I've read, delta-sigma audio DACs don't
provide good enough DC accuracy.
