Maybe, I have not worked with MidiOx but the description says:
"it is both a diagnostic tool and a System Exclusive librarian."
" It displays incoming MIDI streams,"
It may be possible to manually send each block and see the status in the
display of incoming streams.
You have 7 bit data to work with so you may be able to use text in the
handshake ( Good / Bad ) and see it in the display.
-----------
They also mention "MIDI-OX Scripting" so you may be able to automate the
whole process - handshakes and all with a script.
-----------
Yet another possibly is "As of version 4.6, a new COM Interface has been
implemented." Your Borland compiler may support using COM.

Thanks for the good tips above and below. I have a bootloader working well
over RS232, but for obvious reasons I don't want to have people pull out a
DB9 cable. Also, I don't really want to write a MIDI app of my own at this
time because that would be a steep hill to climb right now (unless someone
has a great Borland MIDI component). But I digress...

I don't think a handshake is possible if I use a SysEx loader like MidiOx or
a sequencer to play MID files. Right?
