I had one.  The frikn thing had battery backed ram for its firmware.
Not very firm firmware if you take the chip out to clone it like I did.
Instant codeless brick.  I mailed it to a synth museum cause I was so
pissed at seeing it around.

There was the Frontal Lobe card back then which did that.

Not sure about the PC editing part, though.
