Well, I've not had the JX for many years now...
The recent update was done mostly as a thought exercise.
Someone sent me a ROM image of the v2.3 code, and from looking at the raw
file, I could see that it was close enough to the v2.0 code that I could use
the same hooks in the code to insert my modifications.
I made the changes using HexEdit, and got Tony A to bring his JX along to
test it when he was up my way.
Worked first time.
So, I'd have to say the whole synth-OS reverse engineering and re-design
thing is a piece of piss.
Cheater Cheater should get stuck into the Andromeda forthwith.
