I think it would. Designing a hardware synth of that complexity would  
be a serious job in itself. Unpicking one that someone else has  
already done is as much work, and then you've got to rewrite all the  
software, since you're not going to get access to the original code.  
That adds up to twice as much work by my reckoning.

If you want to go down this route, design a new processor board for a  
Polysix or JX synth or something for starters - way simpler than  
Andromeda. After you've done that (in two years time) you can have a  
go at Andromeda if you still feel like it.

I'm not against the idea (it would be marvellous to have editable  
code available for Andromeda) but I think it's a huge project and  
anyone who thinks about getting involved had better have a damn clear  
idea what they're up against.
