[sdiy] Book on ADC/DACs for synth applications

Setting aside arguments about how we should all strive for the best
possible results, it's probably safe to say that getting a grounding in
the basics of the technology is a good idea, and I believe that's what
the OP was asking for.
As far as as "apoditizing filters", if you meant "apodizing filters"
then we're getting into audiophile woo-woo. As far as I can tell they're
just a technique to reduce pre-ringing in the output DACs of high-end
digital audio equipment, and the technique boils down to throwing a
minimum phase FIR with a lower cutoff at the interpolation filter.
Nothing particularly new about fiddling with the cutoff, and minimum
phase filtering is old stuff too. Just secret sauce for people who cater
to worry-warts.
