Hey Grant,
Since no one replied to the list, both the Moog 1150 and 956 have
physically different CV and gate functions, and they work independently of
each other. The ribbon is just a metal contact that is suspended above a
single embeded resitive element , and has a track and hold for the CV when
contact is made. The other two silver bars are metallic traces on a
circuit board. The larger one is ground, and the other one like a touch
plate, creates a trigger when touched by your finger. Helps if you are
touching the large ground when triggering the narrow trace or wet your
finger a bit. Very musical as you can sort of strum the metal trace with
one finger like a bass guitar and get a pitch CV from the ribbon.
