Another vote for looking for organ keyboards.

You wouldn't believe the number of dodgy home organs from the 1970s  
that there still are floating about. Quality varies a lot, but you  
shouldn't pay more than $20 for one, even in working condition.  
Usually there's a couple of decent 44 key keyboards, and often some  
other salvageable parts too (Some of the swell pedals are good,  
occasionally you find a decent speaker, some people even like the  
drum modules, etc etc).

Five octaves is a push, but not impossible. Find a dead combi organ.
