99.99999% of all SPICE models are just that: what is called a Parameter 
Model. You model the resultant behavior of the 'thing', not the exact 
physics of the 'thing'.

The reason is that exact, transistor-level models would take too long to 
simulate, and most people are just looking for nominal circuit results.

For example, when I was at Maxim Semiconductor we had a 8051 clone MPU and 
we ran a full low-level (every MOSFET) simulation to execute 5 instructions. 
It took 96 hours running on an 8 CPU SUN workstation.
