I'm imagining a pair of comparators and an OR gate... if voltage is
above threshold of one comparator, or below the threshold of the other
one, output 1. Way more complicated and expensive than "some diodes"
but you'd have the added benefit of hysteresis in the comparators and
possibly a more predictable voltage on your FET due to the digital
logic.
