Howdy SDIYers in the northeast,

I've been in New Jersey and New York for a bit; but unlike the last time I was in New York, I don't have a lot of solo-running-around-free-time.

My wife and I are going to see Kristeen Young play at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn tomorrow, July 5:

I've known Kristeen over 15 years, from back when she was playing with bands called November 9th and Waterworks in St. Louis. She's an amazing talent; she's sang backup for David Bowie and opened for Morrissey.

Anyway, I wanted to (a) suggest folks check out her show and (b) suggest meeting up there and (c) wonder if folks would like to meet up a little bit before hand? Are there any good coffee places around the are of the venue? For that matter, what's the area around the venue like?
