[sdiy] MELF, Thick film, Thin film resistors.

Are there any other points besides better specs and same price in 1000's
using MELF resistors instead of regular Thick Film resistors? (im talking
about Pick and Place surface mounting). Are there any hidden costs with
MELF's? Mounting? Any?

I was had a peek at some MOTM , Cwejman etc PCB's and it seams they
use standard Thick film except when absolutely needed for precision.
