If you dig into the primary windings on the transformer, you will
probably find a thermal fuse - maybe not what you are expecting but it
should kill the circuit when the transformer gets to about 150C.
These fuses are non-resettable and difficult to dig out without
destroying the winding.
At least that's my findings on dissecting several of these things!
