[sdiy] Substitute for pin matrixes?

My understanding of the 3.5mm Cliff Jack sockets' problem, was that  
their older CL1384 model wouldn't take japanese jacks reliably. The  
newer CL13841 model is supposedly designed to be able to take both  
types. It does actually look different - I got some of both types for  
comparison. The contact for the signal (in a mono jack) is at a  
slightly different (lower) angle in the CL13841.

I ordered some for myself and a friend a couple of years back. They  
have worked well for several sorts of jacks since then, with moderate  
use - I've not tested to destruction ...

There was quite a delay in the order before I got them, because a  
certain module manufacturer whose name begins with Do***** had bought  
up all the existing stock, and some more needed to be manufactured !

I'd be interested in anyone else's experiencers with the newer Cliff  
CL13841 sockets....
