On one point I beg to differ,

The SoundART Chameleon is still upgradeable by current tools available from
Freescale and others. Nothing has changed except the business status of
SoundART.

The Coldfire is still supported by Metrowerks, WindRiver and a new Eclipse
based based MetroWerks compiler v10.0 soon to launch.

We have a new DSP tool chain called Symphony Studio that is an Eclipse based
tool for FREE!!! that supports all of the DSP563xx and DSP5672x Dual-Core
processors.

Altium even builds a Pro version of Compiler tools to support the DSP56xxx
devices.

The Chameleon may not be in production but Freescale still support tools and
chips used by the Chameleon.

So in the end , it still is upgradeable in all accounts. I even use one here
in my lab for prototyping projects.

Just my 2 cents and Bravo to Paul Maddox for his fine efforts on Chameleon.
