I believe some original Wiard modules had iridescent paint. I assume it
wasn't durable since Grant switched to traditional paint. If he's still on
this list he can probably comment.

I'm not sure what a laser engraver is what you really want. I've done a
number of test samples of powder coated aluminum and they turn out okay but
certainly not worthy of something costing much money. Anodized aluminum
does much better but even then it's possible to scrape off the oxidized
material with a fingernail if you apply enough pressure. Overburning
annodized aluminum leads to an uneven finish which I don't like the look of.
I did a sample piece for techshop of laser etched powder coat once I got it
fine tuned. Pictures here:

Below is a sample of laser etched anodized brushed aluminum. The lines that
make it look like a low res image are actually due to the brucshed finish.
The piece is under .75" wide and about 2" long.
