[sdiy] SDIY-OT: He who shall not be named - or - Zippy the Pinhead, take 2

Now that we're about a week out from *the*incident*, out of curiosity I pulled all the contributions by he who shall not be named into a separate mail folder.  From the beginning of 2009 until the time of banishing he made a total of 136 posts, out of almost 11,000 total posts made in the same time period.  A little over 1% of total posts.  Perhaps a tenth of those could be considered in any way mildly offensive (I dare say there are others here I find more inflammatory on a regular basis). A tenth of a percent is not a great SNR for audio, but perhaps not that bad for a mail list.  I don't know about his off-list habits as have been described by others and don't care to discuss them, but a review of his on-list posts show that most actually have directly applicable content, albeit posted in a "Zippy the Pinhead"* obfuscated manner.  The quotes enclosed below could almost be confused with any non sequitur found in the Zippy Yow! quote file.

At the risk of perhaps further alienating people I respect, I'll just add the following regarding his last post.  If anyone has seen the movie "The Aristocrats"*, there is a scene where Gilbert Gottfried is roasting Hugh Hefner in NYC a few weeks after the 9/11 attack and makes a mild plane hijacking joke.  The crowd is aghast and boos him, some shouting "Too soon, Too soon!".  He drops his prepared monologue and jumps into a telling of the dirtiest most obscene, depraved, ribald joke known to man, one that historically comedians told privately to each other but never before an audience: "The Aristocrats".  The previously easily offended crowd has no problem with the filth that is spewed as the joke unfolds. If you're offended by obscene humor don't watch the youtube.  

So, yes...too soon.  

SDIY is a now safer, less offensive, less colorful, less tolerant place for all of us.  Tomorrow's another day, and this pancake we're on will keep rotating around the Sun.  I'm glad everyone's knees have relaxed from their net induced spasm.
