One other reason to choose for SRAM could be that it is much faster for
write access than both EEPROM and flash ROM, for read access as well in
the case of EEPROM. And using flash ROM is more complicated if you want to
update individual bytes because setting a bit back to 1 involves erasing a
whole memory block.
Many EEPROMs are specified for e.g. > 1,000,000 writes so if you are not
updating it too frequently the endurance does not have to be an issue.
