I understand the pain, and the motivation, but...

...it's kind of like when a town has a good goth industrial dance night, but it has some (perhaps quite serious) "issues," and then in response someone starts another goth industrial dance night at a different venue *on the same night*.

The audience gets fractured between the two venues. Some people try to hit both venues in one night, but that gets expensive, so most only hit one. People choose allegiance to one venue or the another and try to get their friends to choose the same allegiance. Things get confusing when people aren't sure which friends are going to be where. Attendance at both venues drops below a critical mass, so the owners/managers at both venues drop both goth industrial nights. And then you're left with no goth industrial dance nights.
