[sdiy] rare component sourcing: UTSource

I've found UTSource to be very honest. In a recent "group" buy of MN3005
chips, the first batch they shipped were fine. The second batch from a
different supplier were fake. UTSource found a different source and replaced
all the fake one which were sent. Their problem is that they are a middle
man. The don't have the wherewithal to test the variety of chips they sell.
They ask their sources to verify them, but, yes they do fall prey to
counterfeits. That said, they have always made good on the products they
sell.

~~ That's interesting to note. My matched pairs all measured OK when I
~~ checked
~~ them for pinout and Hfe, so that gave me the confidence to purchase
again.
~~ Perhaps they themselves have fallen victim to copies? I shall try them
~~ again
~~ for rare items though, and keep my fingers crossed!

~~ This company came under scrutiny a while back. They claim to stock the
~~ UA726, and they have a picture of the device with the date code 0214
~~ suggesting it was made in 2002.
~~ However evidence seems to show that manufacturing finished back in the
~~ late 70's or early 80's.
