Sorry Jason,

I was thinking of microphone cable (Or any external cable) as opposed  
to internal wiring cable.

I don't know if the cable manufacturers are putting pressure on the  
distributors these days but it seems to be getting
increasingly difficult to buy cut lengths of cable as opposed to full  
drums (Typically 50m or 100m in the UK). It may
be related to the volatile price of raw copper these days. You  
increasingly see messages in catalogues saying that
the cable price is subject to increases during the life of the  
catalogue.
