For me, these usually work:

* A good night's sleep
* a nice long "think walk" (as Scott G put it)
* a good hot soak in the tub
* switching to another project for a while
* explaining what you're trying to do to someone else (whether they know 
what you're talking about or not)
* get a bigger hammer
