Hi Folks,
Forgive me if I have been thrashing an old topic. I only recently became
aware of many of you folks.
I had resigned myself to a life of DSP work at Motorola/Freescale now for 25
years and only recently emerged from my own self imposed exile.
I quit building synths upon returning to the US in 1985 after a horrible
time trying to outdo the Japanese keyboard makers.
It appears they had more cash to throw at the problem and my family wished
me to quit working all the time and hang out with them once in a while.
Well, now my daughters are grown up and many web searches later I found out
that there is still a keen interest in the things that I once did and helped
others do so long ago.
I met Paul Maddox and Csaba Zvekan a couple of years back and they can
attest to my interest again as I have been seeding them with new tools and
things to build upon using DSP and ARM platforms.
Sorry if this sounds like a ramble, ramble about Non-Sequitor points, but I
look forward to email postings and seeing other minds delving into Analog
technology. Digital synths always sounded so souless to me and I know , I
have built quite a few souless products in my time.
I don't wish to put mathematics up on the web discussions just to prove I
can do calculus, but I would rather share my approach to audio as a musician
and Audio Engineer first. I like to listen to my work and it is great that
MP3's can be made to examine our progress and disasters.
What makes a tube amp sound so good vs a Transistor is another thrashed out
story I believe.
I do appreciate the web links as well. So much is written I never see. I am
always looking for new ideas and thanks to all who discuss these topics.
Best regards,
Terry Shultz
