Hi all,
I was just wondering if there are owners of the prophet 08',
polyevolver, tetra ... and if they could give their insights on the
*glitch* I noticed.
Went to the musicstore in Köln this weekend to be able to test the dave
smith stuff...
I noticed turning the rotary encoders quite fast made the lcd value go
berserk, the value would come to a halt or it would start to increase
when you were turning the other side... I was just stupified that I had
this problem on a +- 2000€ synth.
Besides I found the prophet 08' sounded OK (I have to admit I don't own
a poly analogue hybrid synth or a vintage prophet 05')
The salesmen from musicstore Germany told me : that's dave smith stuff,
known for being innacurate and , inreliable and cheapo... Can someone
comment on this ?
The pots were indeed a bit wobbly, but hey the features offered in both
the poly and the prophet08' are amazing I think (the slop, 4 lfo's ...)
. I also think each synth has its positive and negative sides. People
tend to compare them too much to the vintage stuff, that was 25 years
ago :p and they also had their weaknesses, sometimes a lot worse !
Back home I searched a bit about this problem and also send a mail to
Dave Smith instruments (no response yet) . I found on some forum that it
shouldn't have any impact on the audio,if you turn the pot and the lcd
values hangs, the audio will *not* hang if you understand what I mean,
so it's just a matter of a digital calculation not being able to keep
up. Can someone confirm this ?
I had this problem on the new TETRA, POLY Evolver and the Prophet 08'.
Any insights on why he released a PE edition ?
Personally I found the never ending pots, especially for cutoff and
resonance *evil*, it took me lots of turns to get it to 100% or 0% ...
very frustrating. This should be solved with the PE edition I guess, it
will have a 270° rotation.
Hope there's a Poly or Prophet owner that could enlighten me here :-).
thx
Benjamin
