[sdiy] Fume extractors / soldering stations

A while ago i bought a Weller WSA350 fume extractor which i must say that i'm highly disappointed with, so i need a better one. 

Seems to me that the best kind would be the kind of soldering irons with a built-in fume extractor directly on the pen (but i could be wrong), and since i wouldn't mind upgrading my soldering iron (a Weller WES51) it sounds like a good deal. However i can't seem to find any in the <$500 price range except the Aoyue 2702A+ which would be awesome except it seems isn't very good... any hints? 

Also, it really is a fume extractor that i need so if you know of any decently priced fume extraction systems (<$300) please do tell...

Lastly, does Hot Air systems work well with DIP components or is that mainly a SMD-thing? Looking for ways to speed up my soldering...
