Hi Scott,

You're right I can try PWM without modifying the circuit.
Actually the clicks come even without an optical disk so the noise
source may be somewhere out of the sound signal lines.
Trying PWM also might help confirming it, means if the noise still
remains with PWM, maybe I have to check power supply, etc.
