Hi David,

I'm not a guru but I use the technique you mention for guitar effects. I
normally use a 100mA hold polyswitch.  I've been meaning to put them on
synth PCB's but haven't bothered yet. Depending on what is in your
circuit, it can be a good idea to use a schottky diode so that the
voltage developed is not high enough to damage anything.
