They asked 10,000 readers and no-one told them that it has to have wooden
end cheeks?!

Which brings me to a point. It's 2010. Why does nearly every new modular I
see seem to slavishly follow Moog's styling?, (which wasn't even very
leading edge when the Moog modulars were built). A Buchla from the same era
looks radical by comparison.
I'm not sure yet how I want mine to look, but I'm certain of one thing: "Not
like a 1970's HiFI amp". Cuurent main idea is an RAL grey as used by British
Military aircraft, and a lot of mixer manufacturers, major problem for me is
that the kind of knobs I really like are way out of my budget range, so the
compromise is going to have to be "something that looks good with ReAn's".
Pity ReAn don't do switch type knobs or larger diameters.
First try case has been good quality MDF, rounded over on all edges and will
be painted with an epoxy grey, like a lot of road-worthy PA gear. No photos
yet, because I want to get the bugs out of my stacking system for cabinets.
I want an inexpensive sound maker, I'll keep the hardwood furniture for the
living room. Is the walnut cabinet fetish a doomed attempt to make the
things more 'female partner friendly"?

Styling ideas brainstorming session open, I think.
