[sdiy] 80s MIDI keyboard aftertouch repair?

Hi everybody-

My late 80's Kawai K1 synth has an aftertouch problem. The aftertouch is dead in the center of the keyboard and close to dead on the ends. Of the keys that work, they are faulty to varying degrees. Many of the black keys are a little less faulty than their neighboring white keys. Note on and note off including velocity work fine.

It looks like a long term wear problem.

I'm the sole owner since new. No smoke exposure. It was used indoors always.

Before I open it and risk breaking it:

Can anyone tell me if there's a standard procedure for fixing aftertouch problems in synths from that era?

Has anyone ever opened a K1 that can give me any advice to get to the keyboard?

Thanks,

John Speth
