[sdiy] small widget - how to package? [maybe OT to some]

I have some product ideas I've held off with for years but now am thinking
of trying.  Few components but a receptacle and plug required.  Like a phone
plug or so in size - like the Amplitube iRig thingy.  So how would a small
guy like me cost-effectively package it?  Some kind of epoxy module, or
perhaps there is an off-the-shelf snap-over plastic enclosure sort of thing
available somewhere?  Anyone have experience with such a product and the
costs involved?  Volumes really are unknown but I imagine fairly low to
start...  I'd prefer not to do a custom enclosure - I want to test the
waters before committing that kind of cash.
