[sdiy] FW: Envelope recorder (was Re: SSM2164 base for Doepfer sdiy synth kit.)

Doepfer used to make a joystick ...I think they knocked it on the head ...
There are plenty of joysticks out there though, what about hacking an old
SY22 or SY35?...that is exactly what the SY22/35 did, it recorded the
joystick movement ...

Hallo Michael!

With special joystick you can even control one additional channel or
function:
I got video cut system remote control that had a joystick that had an
additional potentiometer built into the joystick knob!
Cool design and nice addtional function.

But I haven' t seen such an joystick part on a webstore...

Nice idea, Michael.

I've been wondering about joysticks too. I wanted to build a kind of
"envelope recorder" with a slider control. The idea was that instead of a
normal envelope, you'd press a 'record' button and then record the position
of the slider over the next several seconds. You then be able to trigger the
recording and play it back as an envelope curve. Perhaps you could speed it
up too. Then I realised that you could use a joystick for the recording and
do two dimensions at once.

I'll probably get around to it one year soon.
