[sdiy] WHICH PIC/UCONTROLLER should I buy today

Like Olivier said, even 8-bits doesn't sound bad if all you're doing is producing a full-amplitude oscillator signal to send through an analogue filter and VCA. The examples he gave (PPG, Prophet VS) show what can be done with 12-bits or less.

So don't rule it out for audio.
