Hi everyone,
I'm getting very close to having PCBs, panels, BOMs, instructions, etc.
ready to go for my Synthasystem resurrection. I would like to recruit the
help of someone willing to test build some modules for me. As "compensation"
I would supply the PCBs and a euro panel at no cost. You get to keep the
finished module obviously. You would need to source the parts following the
BOM. I'd like different people building different modules, but I'd entertain
the help of just one person, too.
These modules can be built to work with a +/-12 or +/-15 volt main supply.
The first modules I'd like help with will be:
VCO, VCA, and VCF.
I think typical cost for parts should be under $100.00 for the VCO and under
$50 for the VCA and VCF.
Regarding sourcing problems, there aren't any really weird or special parts
in these things. The JFET in the VCO is still in production, you can had
match NPN pairs, use an SSM2210 or LS318, or some other small signal matched
pair, or a THAT340. The PCB will accommodate all combinations. The VCF, and
VCA use easy to get parts. To stay authentic, I recommend 2N5172s and
PN5138s for the NPN and PNP transistors, but any standard transistor should
work.
I think these are the toughest sourcing problems to solve here.
The time frame is still about a month or two out there, but when you get the
PCB, I'd like to have it built and report back within a week or two
understanding it will take time to source parts and if you are in Europe,
transit time will also play into it. I'll try to get the BOM to you early so
you can source parts ahead of time. This week I'm going to order what I hope
is the last prototype boards and what will be the first release version so
I'm ordering a few extra. If they work, these will be the ones I send off to
you.
If you are interested, send me a note off list and we can discuss details.
Just think, you get to be one of the first to have an original Steiner
Synthasystem module at a bargain price!
