Yes, I'd probably rather use the sine sweep method than the impulse
response method. However, I don't care about phase. I'm wanting to get
freq plots of vocoders, phase shifters, and filter banks, so I can see
where the frequencies of the peaks and dips are at located at. But the
impulse response method can give me some info I might want, like
whether a piece of gear is using a FIR filter or an IIR filter. That's
something I want to find out about the 12 band filter bank in my
JP-8080. That damn filter bank has such a slow lag time it is unusable
for percussive sounds.
