[sdiy] "Best practice" in production BBD chips?

One of my students is interested in building a VC flanger for his project. I know a lot of BBD chips are long out of production, so I wanted to steer my student towards ones that were.

I ran across this: http://www.visualsound.net/index.php//resources/bbd_chips (MN3207 and MN3102 clones)

and this:

http://www.coolaudio.com/products.html

(V3207 functionally compatible with MN3207, and V3208 functionally compatible with MN3208, V3205SD, V3102 similar)

Other places I should be steering my student towards looking at?

Small Bear stocks a lot of interesting chips, but I don't want to be using up out-of-production chips for a newish design.

Is there a "best practice" BBD choice for new designs?

I know what Harry B. thinks... ;)
