This is exactly what I started to do as well. "Harmony and Voice Leading" by
Aldwell and Schacter is the book used at MIT.

I am interested in getting the type of book that would be used in
the first college theory classes. Hopefully breadth of coverage on
a variety of different types of harmony and depth on classical
harmony.
