[sdiy] Outamp in?

In the original Oberheim SEM there is a 3-pin connection in the VCA
section, I1 to I3.
I1 is VCA out, and I2 is ground, and both of these are used in the
standalone version as well as in the 2-voice, 4-voice and 8-voice
versions, so that is all good.
However, I cannot find any reference to how I3 called "Outamp in" is
supposed to be used. It is a connection from outside of the SEM to
hook up just before the final buffer, but after the SEMs VCA control
(CA3080), so anything you connect here will not be controlled by the
SEM, just added to whatever is present on the output.
Is there anyone who knows anything about this?
