No scope can show you what you can easily hear. A sine with fairly  
high THD can look very similar to a perfect sine. My favourite  
example is a perfect square wave compared to a rectangle with on/off  
times almost same. They are undistinguishable on a scope but easily  
distinguishable by ear.

OTOH scopes show you things you can't hear (saw up vs. saw down for  
example).

If a scope could show you only things you can hear anyway, you  
wouldn't need a scope at all, would you? ;-)

Even some very expensive top-of-the-line digital scopes have only 8  
bits resolution.
