If you're working on mainly digital circuits, a logic analyser is probably
more use than a scope.
I've got a two channel, 12-bit USB scope, and I've found the 12-bit
resolution to be bearable.
8 bits would be no use to me, and I wouldn't recommend anyone talk
themselves into buying one by deciding it will be perfectly usable with no
direct experience.
