Hm, a schematic would really help...
The sync circuits I know 'overdrive' the normal cyclic reset of the VCO
output voltage. So you have to find this reset point in your VCO first, see
how it works and then think about a little circuit to add a parallel reset
(from another waveform, pulse or whatever), I would say. Not really easy
without schematic.
