[sdiy] Roland MKS-70 Vacuum Fluorescent Display

I have a MKS-70 with dead display --still useable via Sounddiver
Before I book this in for service by Roland NZ service dept to  check  
display driver I/C etc --is this a common fault with this model?
There is no stock of spare MKS-70 Vacuum Fluorescent Display in Roland  
Australia apparently
If I cannot find a spare display I would also be interested in a parts  
machine with good display
