Aside from the further issue that the MIDI2USB stage needs a host-level
adaptor, most devices with a USB MIDI port also have traditional MIDI ports.
My understanding was that the OP wanted the single-cable two-way connection,
and speed advantage of a USB port, without taking a noise hit.
If you lose the plusses, you may as well use the standard MIDI ports.

It doesn't become unusable, but the improved capability of newer technology
makes the limitations of the older stuff painfully obvious.
I try to avoid using a serial MIDI bus for triggering anything more than 8
voices, and ideally less than 3.
